This painting is a deeply personal work that was created during a challenging time in my life. It reflects suffering, longing for better, and at the same time, being filled with love and appreciation for the point I’d gotten to. The piece was one of those that creates itself; it had no sketch, no outline, and every time I picked it up I found myself pouring my emotions onto the canvas. Just like that, I struggled to give words to it by myself. Months later, reading a book by Marquez, I stumbled upon the thought that perfectly encapsulates its essence; the idea that life obliges us over and over again to rebirth ourselves:
"La Vida Los Obliga Otra Vez Y Muchas Veces A Parirse A Sí Mismos.”
The painting is a testament to the transformative power of life's challenges and the constant rebirth that we must undergo in order to evolve. Its rich color palette, intricate details, and fluid brushstrokes, to me, evoke a sense of depth and emotion that is both captivating and heavy; the painting has seemed to captured the weight of what I was facing while creating it, but exudes warmth regardless. It thereby serves as a reminder that while we may be burdened by our past, there is beauty to be found in who we have become, and who we will become later on in life.
About rebirth - I later, upon a buyer’s request, created a mirrored version of the painting, intensifying the thought behind the original piece, and dividing it into a two-piece.
