VARENGEVILLE-SUR-MER
In 2020, during the Covid summer, my mom and I visited a place called Varengeville-sur-mer, a tiny village surrounded by nature, which lies at the coast depicted on this painting. The week felt like a breath of fresh air - a bit literally, coming from Rotterdam - and nature’s lovely calmth, which is what I wanted to bring home with us as well. The light that reflected on the sea in this area was mesmerizing, and naturally, I couldn’t wait to capture it. So, a gift to my mom; I sat down one morning with a canvas on the windy beach (not recommended) and enjoyed the sea coming closer to me throughout the day.
P.S. : Mom, te amo.
